Africa, the second largest and second most populous continent after Asia. Accounting for 15% of human population, having Nigeria as its most populated country, 140 million. Surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the North, the Red Sea to the Northeast, the Indian Ocean to the Southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the West. With it's 46 countries, including Madagascar, Africa has thousands of ethnic groups. All of which have their own distinct language, traditions, arts and crafts, history, way of life and religion.
While African religions are as diverse as the continent itself, most Africans follow one of three religions: traditional religion, Islam or Christianity. Until the 20th century, there was very little religious conflict. However, in recent years there has been much tensions revolving around religion. Countries such as Nigeria, Tanzania, and Sudan have had much tension and unrest due to relgion.
Political leadership violence has also been a long running problem in Africa. Affecting many countries such as: Nigeria, Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Africa and the Demoncratice Republic of Congo.
One of the most serious problems in Africa is water. Africa has the lowest water supply and sanitation coverage in the world. While some areas receive more than enough water because of their rainy season, others experience constant drought. Droughts lasting up to five years are a common problem on the continent. Africans who are not in droughts use ground water, when available. Due to the poor quality of this water many diseases are a result. ie: cholera, typhoid fever, guinea worm disease, and diarrhea. All of which can lead to death.
